EYE ALLERGIES

The eye can participate in a generalized allergic reaction or be the only organ affected. Allergic conjunctivitis often accompanies allergic rhinitis especially caused by pollens. Vernal conjunctivitis is more common in children than in adults.

Appears in temperate climates in spring and summer. The disease affects both eyes, there is intense pruritus (itching), red eyes, photophobia (bothered by light) and tearing. Rubbing the eyes aggravates the process.

Eye secretions are watery but if they persist can become purulent. Treatment consists of eye drops, antihistamines and cold compresses.

-ASMA

It is a chronic respiratory disease characterized by recurrent episodes of wheezing due to inflammation, bronchial smooth muscle spasm and increased secretions, which are caused by an overactive airway response to different stimuli. Often a patient presents more than a manifestation of allergy
